We hope you, your family and your isolation bubble are all safe and healthy. As part of the Alert Level 4 lock down put in place by the New Zealand Government, effective from 11:59 from Wednesday 25 March, our Professionals virtual office has closed its virtual doors for at least four weeks and our team are all self-isolating at home, but just because our office is closed does not mean our laptops are.
Real Estate is not deemed an essential service by the Government, so all Open Homes and Viewings by Appointment have been cancelled or post-poned until the Alert Level has been de-escalated to Alert Level-3, and all physical auctions are also cancelled.
We are open for business during this time. We still have vendors who are looking to sell and a database of buyers looking for their next home. We are well positioned for contactless selling and have a range of digital tools at our disposal to connect with you, let you digitally view our homes, and we have tools available for digitally signing documents without physical contact. Many of you will be using these types of tools while you are working from home, and funnily enough we have been using many of them over the last few years to sell homes to people living overseas.
We know that we will come out this eventually as a country and when we look back at the property market, we also know that this will come right as well. As you can see from the graph below the GFC of 2007 and 2008 had an impact on the market but it did come right in two years.
