Styling your home for sale.

If styling and interior design doesn’t come naturally to you, it can be a minefield trying to work out how to best style your home for sale.  Presenting your home well for sale is crucial to get a good first impression from potential buyers.  We have put together the below tips and tricks to get your home looking chic for sale.

Don’t forget your entrance:

Although a tiny space when you think about the rest of the home, the entranceway is the first thing buyers will see when coming to view your home, so make an entrance!  A lovely doormat and a planter with a lush plant can brighten up a doorway.  If your entranceway leads into a hallway a large mirror can make the space feel bigger and is also handy for one last appearance check when running out the door.  Storage for shoes and hooks for coats and bags can also help buyers visualise what their lives will be like living in your home.

You’ve all heard the old adage “Kitchens sell homes.”  And it’s true!  Of course, not everyone can afford to do a full kitchen renovation prior to sale, but there are a few things to do to present your kitchen and dining area to buyers.  Make it a foodies haven with recipe books on display.  Rustic style chopping board and serving platters add a lovely homely touch as does fresh herbs which also provide a lovely aroma.  In the dining room, simply updating the chairs can refresh the room.

Most people love a cosy lounge, so create that in your home.  A lovely large rug, pillows and a snuggly throw will make the room feel cosy and warm.  A floor or table lamp with a warm light bulb will ensure a warmer feel in the room.

Updating your tapware can be an easy and relatively inexpensive way to modernise an older bathroom.  If you don’t want to go to that level of effort you can always pop out some matching towels and matching hand wash and hand lotion.

Create that dreamy feeling in your master bedroom with mood lighting and some eye-catching art.  Tie the look together with a matching bedspread or some decorative pillows.
